Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) partners KPU instructors with other instructors from global partner institutions who teach similar courses to create an environment to enrich students’ learning experiences by incorporating real-world and international perspectives into their courses. Enrolling in COIL-enriched courses provides students with valuable opportunities for genuine real-world learning within their respective disciplines on an international scale.
This four-week blended workshop aims to introduce faculty who are new to the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) model and approach. Throughout the workshop series, participant faculty will be introduced to the pedagogy of COIL, the design and planning of a COIL learning experience. The workshop facilitators will work with participant faculty to design COIL experiences, assessments, and activities aligned and culturally appropriate for your external partners abroad.

Through engaging in the activities and content of this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to
1. Explain the basic tenants of COIL, discuss COIL projects, and contextualize student learning experiences across cultures
2. Explore KPU technology tools and logistical considerations to plan and implement COIL experiences
3. Gain experiences designing COIL learning activities and assessments
