Interested in engaging in open pedagogy but not sure where to start? You do not need to do it all at once! Open pedagogy is a practice that employs a social justice approach to education and builds on critical pedagogy to facilitate learners' ownership of their own education. It can shift the emphasis away from simply consumption of knowledge or information to the creation and sharing of it. In this workshop, we will consider different components of a course (e.g., syllabi, assessment, assignments, etc.) and discuss how we can implement and apply the principles of open pedagogy to our practices.

Come explore ideas, ask questions, and practice making your courses more open.

Through engaging in the activities and content of this workshop, you have the opportunity to:
    • Identify open pedagogy through common characteristics
    • Integrate open pedagogy into sample teaching activities
    • Modify one of your own teaching practices to include open pedagogy
